Intermediate/Middle School 8th Annual Turkey Trot

The Intermediate/Middle School held its annual Turkey Trot on Tuesday, November 22 to benefit Harvest Hope Food Bank. Leading up to the event, students asked family and friends for donations in support of their effort and the ongoing work of the Harvest Hope Food Bank. The students celebrated their success with lunch donated by Jimmy John's, Mezza, and Frito Lay, a visit from Cool Can Sam, and music while walking and trotting around the track. This year's theme was "Making a Difference." The effort of the entire Intermediate/Middle School in support of Harvest Hope is an example of the many ways our school community reaches out in service to others and teaches our students the responsibility we all have to stewardship. The 2011 Turkey Trot was a great success raising over $10,000. The Turkey Trot has become an annual service project and tradition of our Intermediate/Middle School with students participating every year since 2005, giving over $85,000 to Harvest Hope.

Our support of Harvest Hope will continue with the 2nd Annual Deck the Hall 5K Cross Country Race and the Reindeer Fun Run on Saturday, December 10, 2011. Register online at www.heathwood.org/deckthehall.
