Parent-Book Discussion of: 'The Anxious Generation'
The Anxious Generation explores the rise of anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges among young people in the modern world. The author, Jonathan Haidt, examines a range of factors—such as social media, academic pressure, the decline of face-to-face interactions, and the instability of the global landscape—that have shaped the emotional and psychological well-being of today's youth.
Dr. Katelin Williamson, a Heathwood parent and a child and adolescent psychiatrist, has graciously and generously offered to share her perspective, provide information, and lead Q&A sessions regarding this book and the associated topics. The book discussion allows for us as a community to foster resilience and emotional well-being in our young Highlanders, advocating for better support systems, healthier coping strategies, and a greater cultural shift towards greater mental health awareness.
