Five Heathwood Students Named Finalists in Writing Competition
Heathwood Hall seniors Clare Baker, Addie-Grace Cook, Jimmy Ruskell, and Elizabeth Thompson, and Heathwood junior Liam Quan have all been named finalists in the University of South Carolina Honors College's 2021 South Carolina High School Writing Contest. They are among 22 students statewide whose work will be showcased on the Honors College website.
The contest invites students to weigh in on the topic, "How should we improve the state of South Carolina?" Entries are are judged for originality, creativity, and writing style. All finalist essays will be evaluated by contest judge and noted SC poet Ray McManus, who will select 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place award winners.
